Chuck Liddell, known for his one-punch knock out power was on the other end of the stick, as rising MMA star Rashad Evans gave him a cracking overhand right to send the UFC superstar to dream world in Round Two of the Ultimate Fighting Championship 88 Breakthrough main event in Philips Arena, Atlanta on Sunday. It was the case of the quick and the dead as both fighters simultaneously released their punches with Evans' right landed first on Liddell's jaw negating the latter's uppercut.
The fighters started cautiously and as Round One progressed, Evans' punches were connecting and Liddell's bloodied face was the proof. Both warriors were contented with the stand up game and continued to exchange blows in the second round until the massive right caught Liddell. Liddell was out cold and Evans came rushing for some follow-up shots thankfully referee Herb Dean was quick restrain the winner.
Congratulations Rashad Evans! It is an unexpected sweet victory for him (for most fans anyway including me luckily I didn't discount him). The prospect of Evans facing defending UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin is making me excited already.
